It is going to be a hot and busy week. We have two meets this week. Tomorrow will be a home meet vs. Catalina Terrace. This is another big team. Be sure to get to warm-ups on time. We are looking for a few more volunteers for tomorrow's meet: we need one more for snack bar (2nd shift) and one more qualified person for stroke and turn. Two stroke and turn judges just isn't enough for the entire meet. We could really use a bit of additional relief in that department. If you're interested, please sign-up via the wiki.
On Thursday, it is off to Pusch Ridge.Check our website for map to the Oro Valley Municipal Pool. It is supposed to be 108 on Thursday, so keep the kids hydrated. At least the meet will be at a big pool, and it should run very smoothly.
Please remember that parents are expected to watch over their children during practice. That doesn't mean that every parent needs to stay at every practice, but at least one parent needs to be in attendance. This is for safety reasons. At the early morning practice, the parents of the 13-18 year old swimmers have organized a rotating schedule to make sure that their is an "attending parent" at each practice. We have not yet seen a need to create a similar schedule for the other age groups. However, today, there were no parents at the pool during the 11-12 practice. The policy this year is that practice will be canceled and parents will be called to pick up kids if there is no parent at the pool. We don't want to have to do that, so please make sure that we have coverage. And, by the way, you can get volunteer credit for time spent as "attending parent" if you take the responsibility to do that. Not a bad way to get those commitments fulfilled.
Remember that we are having a Happy Hour at the Hut on Wednesday night. Hope to see you there at 6 pm. And, Gaslight is on Sunday. What a fun week ahead!
Go Wahoos!

Hi all,
I can’t believe how the season is flying by. What a great season it’s been so far.
By now you should all have received your t-shirts. Our swimmers each received a free one with their registration. If your swimmer did not receive one, please let me know. Also, if you have not already paid for any extra t-shirts you ordered, please do so by Tuesday, June 22nd. T-shirts are $10 and tank tops are $12.
I have swim caps available for sale. Silicone caps are $9 and latex caps are $3.
Lastly, if you are interested in ordering a swim team towel with your swimmer’s name embroidered, please let me know right away. If we get enough interest, we will place the order. We expect them to cost between $30 and $40.
Go Wahoos!

There are a few holes in the volunteer sign-up sheet for tonight's JCC meet. We still need someone to put together the ribbons (add labels, working with the Meet Manager folks). We also need someone to help with the 8-under round up. Finally, we need someone to lead the 50/50 raffle (organizing sales, collecting the money, etc). If you can cover one of these commitments please visit the volunteer wiki and sign up.
Thank you, Ed Murphy |
