I want to thank all those who have complimented me on the website.  I'm glad to be able to contribute in my own way.  I'm most thrilled that you are all using the site. The site sees over 300 visitors each week, telling me you are all coming back over and over again looking for the latest updates.

Your use of the site makes makes all my efforts worthwhile.

Thanks again.

July 14 Update
Wednesday, 14 July 2010 08:18

Hello HVAC Families!

If you haven't already done so, please remember to donate to the fund for the coaches' gifts. Maria and John Malloy are still accepting contributions. They will pick up the last checks tomorrow (Thursday) during practice.

As you arrive at the Awards Banquet on Saturday evening (starts at 6 pm), please look for the thank you cards that need to be signed by everyone. We will have cards for the 3 coaches and the teen volunteers.

We are once again asking for $5 per person for the banquet for any guests not immediately associated with swim team. That means that dinner is "on the house" for swimmers and their immediate family members (not including grandparents). If you are planning on bringing additional guests, please let us know before Friday so that we can make sure to have enough food.

Remember that beverages will not be provided at the banquet so please bring drinks for all members of your family.

Thanks so much,
Jennifer Gould
HVAC, co-chair

PS - We could still use a few volunteers for championships. Check out the wiki!

"Silpada & Swim" jewelry party on July 16th
Monday, 12 July 2010 11:07
Hello Highland Vista swim team!

Please see the attached flier for info on the upcoming "Silpada & Swim" jewelry party on July 16th to benefit the Highland Vista pool and recreation area that is important to all of us. As you know, our pool facility is funded, operated, and maintained by members, neighborhood volunteers, and swim team families. This year we have fewer members than usual and maintenance costs are higher so we really hope to make this a great fundraiser!

The event flier can be forwarded to other friends and neighbors you know who might be interested. Please help us spread the word about this fun event! The pool will be open the night of the fundraiser to everyone--not just pool members--so encourage your friends and neighbors to come and experience the wonderful recreation area that plays a big role in building our Highland Vista community.

Though jewelry parties are traditionally for the ladies, we encourage men to join us for this one and do some shopping for the special women in their lives! Also, please remember that you can peruse a Silpada catalog online and place orders without attending this fundraiser.

ALSO...save the date for our neighborhood rummage sale Saturday October 2nd at the pool! As you clean out your closets and storage sheds this summer, please save gently used items for the sale. This is a very easy way to clear out some clutter and support the pool at the same time! Contact Brendyn at 884-0779 if you have items to donate or are available to volunteer the weekend of the sale. We will be collecting items at the pool on Friday October 1st as we set up for the sale.

THANK YOU! We appreciate your support and hope to see you on the 16th!

-your HVNA board

July 10 Update
Saturday, 10 July 2010 10:52
Wow! We've come to the final two weeks of practice. No more dual meets. Whew!

Please remember that the Awards Banquet is next Saturday, July 17th at the pool from 6 to 9. We look forward to seeing all of you there! It is fun-filled event complete with a slide show of the season. There will be lifeguards. Many children will want to swim before the awards portion of the evening begins. Dinner will be provided for swimmers and their immediate family members, but you will need to bring your own beverages. Please remember that this is a SAAA family event.

Coaches' Gifts: If you have not yet contributed to the coaches' gifts, there is still time. I think we've collected about half as much as we typically gather at the end of each season. You can write a check out to Maria Malloy and drop it in her box at the pool during practice next week or you can bring cash and give it directly to either John or Maria during practices for 9-10 year olds and 8 & Under. Maria will be accepting contributions until Thursday.

Volunteers still needed! We need volunteers for championships. During championships, we are in charge of heat ribbons/runner and posting, in addition to team timing assignments. Runner volunteers pick-up timer cards for each relay event and after each individual event and deliver them to teh administrative tent. They also post the results in a designated area. Heat Ribbons volunteers award heat ribbons to all individuals who win their heats during prelims. As for timers, we are in charge of Lane 7. We need two timers at Lane 7 for all events during prelims and finals. If you'd like to help out, please go to the wiki and sign up http://highlandvistaswim.pbworks.com/Championships+-+prelims.

We also could use help with set-up/clean-up for the Awards Banquet and the Pizza Party.

There are a few families still in need of one or two more shifts to be able to receive their $50 deposit. If you're not sure if you're one of those families, please get in touch with me either through the team email or directly at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We will have checks to pass back during the awards banquet. Look for Sean Dreis or me if you still haven't received your check.

Thanks so much for your continued support and enthusiasm. We really do have the greatest SAAA swim team in all of Tucson. Go Wahoos!
